Piktochart is a great tool to use if you are trying to make posters, a presentation or an infographic When you are making one you can choose from different templates that relates to the topic you are going to discuss or you can start from scratch and create your own. This tool can be very useful to teachers because it gives them creative and fun ways to present things to their students. Using a Piktochart can be very engaging for the students because it's all on one page and has images to go along with the descriptions. Having this chart in my classroom would be beneficial to make sure the students are being safe when they are using the internet and thinking before they just click onto a website. This will hopefully cause lesson confusion and let the students use technology without as many questions that need to be answered.
Internet Safety
Symbaloo is a website where I have added some great technology tools that can be used by me and my students. These tools will go along with my lessons as well as giving the students extra resources if they need any. All of these tools are bookmarked and you just have to click on the icon and it will bring you straight to the website. Having these sources easily at your disposal is great for extra help at home or just so students can review the material they have learned.
This is my certificate that proves I completed an Hour of Code on Code.org. By doing this activity I learned some basic skills with computer science where I was able to play around with a game that was already made and make it into my own. The activities were very useful and would be easy for someone of any age to be able to use.
For my Instructional video I used iMovie to make a video that helped explain vowels to second graders. This lesson was based off of one of the second grade standards. iMovie is a great tool for students to use because it gives them a chance to present what they have learned in a way that they can include voiceovers, pictures as well as videos. You can also add your own text to each of the pictures or videos and using this tool is very easy for all ages. I used pictures I found on the internet and then voiced over the important information that I was trying to get across. My students can watch this video in class as well as at home in order to help them learn more about vowels or just review them.
This is a newsletter I made using the website called Smore. It is a great website for teacher because there are special templates for educators that you could quickly fill out and send out important information in a fun manner. There are some tools like showing the location of the meeting which could be very beneficial if someone is new to the school district. My newsletter discusses some beginning of the year information so that the parents and students will get to know me. As well as talking about an open house I will be hosting so they can discover their classroom as well as talk to me! It's an online program and it very effective and efficient because the students don't have the chance to loose a paper if I were to give it to them. I can just share it with all of the parents and they will be able to pull it up if they need to reference it anytime.
Me and two other people worked on this project which is a problem based learning project. We used OER commons which is a website in order to share our findings. On this website you can search different key words and look for other projects of papers people have written on that topic. This is very useful for teachers because it allows other teachers to look for suggestions on their lesson plans as well as post lessons that worked well for them. For our lesson plan we focused on hazardous weather that causes schools to be canceled. We chose guiding questions at the beginning and then followed those to make a lesson plan where we talked about having students first research hazardous weather. Then after they had learned a lot of new information they would report that new information to the rest of the class by making a presentation. By researching these students are going to be evaluating important new information and then being efficient when it comes to working together to make a presentation.
