About Me

My name is Alex Ventresca and I am from Columbus Ohio where I was born and raised. I grew up going to Upper Arlington City Schools where I was a swimmer and a golfer in high school. My interest in teaching started after I had a wonderful second grade teacher and that prompted me to want to be an elementary school teacher myself. As I got into high school more I volunteered with the program Best Buddies and had a great time getting to know all of the students and see them grow as people every time we got together. From then on I knew that I not only wanted to be an elementary school teacher but I also wanted to help students with disabilities. Once I stepped foot on campus at Indiana University I knew it was the place for me. They have a great program that I'm a part of that lets you get a license in Special Education as well as Elementary Education (K-6). I plan to teach either second or third grade and I am very excited to finally see the day when I have my own classroom.

Beliefs as Teacher
Technology Usage in the Classroom
I have some of my own beliefs as a teacher but the one that I think is most important to note is that I am making sure the students get the best education possible. Their education is always going to be at the top of my priority list. If someone needs extra help I will make sure they get that help and try to push them to be the best people they can possibly be. I will be using many different tools in my classroom to make sure every student is being accommodated. These students will be working together to collaborate on assignments as well as by themselves and using different types of technology. I can't wait to watch them on their different journeys through their education and see where it takes them.
Regarding technology usage in my classroom it is going to be encouraged for these students because, this is the age of technology and they are going to use it a ton when they are growing up. I want to make sure that by using technology I can reach every student with their different learning approaches. Using technology is very engaging for these students as well as effective with teaching them new lessons using things like apps. iPads are something I am going to try and use because if they are available for each student, then they can be beneficial tools for the students to bring home and practice things on their own. There are tons of great tools that I have had the opportunity to explore and would be very useful for the students. As far as having a mixture of technology and paper work I feel that it's going to be more beneficial for these students to use technology more. But I will also make sure I am incorporating paper assignments in my lessons as well.
